HTC is starting shipments of its BREW Based phone — the HTC Smart . And some good news for all of us in India, the price of the HTC Smart is rumored to be Rs.10000 only. The Smart runs on Qualcomm’s BREW platform and this phone was first announced at CES .

Although HTC is claiming this phone is a  ’smart’ phone, it’s just a feature phone like the Samsung Corby series. But there is news that HTC is planning to invest around $1 million to promote the Smart in India.

Looks like HTC is taking on Samsung’s Corby series and Nokia’s 5530 and 5230 and  LG’s Cookie range. The Taiwanese phone maker has always been seen as a premium handset / smartphone player and this move is  good news for consumers.
